During this tour, you can expect quite the variation in the types of flora and fauna, such as small palm trees and meter-tall trees filled with orchids, but also various animals like colorful birds, snakes, monkeys, frogs and pigs. The greatest treasures of the Brown Mountain are the different natural waterfalls on the mountain, where you can take a shower.

The route from Paramaribo to Brownsberg is approximately 110 kilometers. During the trip we pass through various local villages, where mostly Maroons live. The road to the top of Brownsberg will be climbed with a 4 × 4 pickup. Once we once arrive at the top, we wait for a beautiful view over the lake.

In the evening you will be able to enjoy boat rides, swim, or fish for toekoenari (bass species) and piranhas. If you want to do something a  little quieter, you can relax in the hammock. This tour is highly-recommended for nature lovers.

  • 8.30 hr - Departure @ 't VAT (Klein Waterstraat / Kleine Dwarsstraat) - pickup and departure in small airconditioned minivans
  • 9.30 hr - Arrival at a small restaurant across of Suralco (former Aluminum refinery). There you will have a small snack and some coffee/tea.
  • 11.00 hr - 12.00 hr- Arrival at the mountain. You will have a beautiful view of the van Blommenstein Lake and also different kind of animals that are walking around.
  • 12.00 hr - Start of the walk to the waterfalls. Along the way you will get some information of the flora & fauna and the different kind of animals that you will spot along the way.
  • 15.00 hr - Arrival back at the top of the mountain for some lunch. After lunch you will have time to relax and enjoy the beautiful view around you.
  • 16.00 hr. - Departure to Stone Island to the lodges where you can settle in, while the guide will be preparing dinner. There you have time for yourself to fish, swim or just relax in hammock.
  • The Next Day:
  • 08.00 hr. - The next morning you will have breakfast.
  • 10.00 hr - Boat ride on the lake. Depending on the group the boat ride can be 30 min or 1 hour.
  • 11.00 hr - Back at the lodge. Preparing for the departure back to T'vat.

Fruit, drinks, snacks, lunch and free transportation from and towards Paramaribo are included.

From Paramaribo you get pickup up at 8.30am by our free minibus from our meeting location. In a full-airconditioned minibus we drive 25 kilometers southbound towards the resort "Parabello". We arrive around 9.30am to meet our guides from Parabello.

The first activity on our program today is the ZIP-line (Canopy). This ZIP-line is the longest line in Suriname. The guides will give you safety instructions and guide you trough a test-course. Helmets and (safety) materials are included. Maximum weight per person is 90 kilo. This activity has a duration of approximately 1.5hr. No open shoes or slippers allowed.

Around 1pm, after we are finished with the zip-line, we will serve the included lunch and drinks. Now there is also time to swim a little in the fresh-water-lake around Parabello, with its black colored water (so called cola water). The lunch will take about an hour. 

After the lunch we start at 2pm with our ATV / Quad, adventure. We drive around 2 hours. Everybody get their own ATV. The ATV's / Quads (550 CC) are fully-automatic. No experience, no problem. Our guides will help you, safety is number one. We drive with two people per ATV / Quad, on our way we meet small bush / jungle-roads, bauxiet roads and a lot of mud. You will get dirty. So wear appropriate clothing, long sleeves, long pants, no slippers, no open shoe-wear. The guide will drive in front, setting the speed.

At 5:00pm we arrive back after the nice drive, pack our stuff and then start our way back to Paramaribo, arrival time is around 6pm.

  • 16.10 hr - 17.30 hr - After some searching over the Suriname and Commewijnriver we view the dolphins' show over some snacks and drinks. Take pictures or record with video camera. The guide will tell you about the dolphins
  • 17.30 hr - 18.00 hr - Visit one of the plantations in the district. Perhaps meet some of the locals. Also opportunity for further exploration of Commewijne district and its customs, culture/history. Enjoying some snacks
